Have I really been gone from work for five days already? Because I sure could use another few days of relaxation. But I can't complain. The time off brought wonderful things!
Shopping with my sister at the outlet mall. Dinner with my mama. Tons of time on the deck - both alone and with friends. Great Lake pizza for the first time. I don't know, it was very good, but I'm not sure worth the hype. Or maybe I've just heard so much hype I was expecting something HUGE. (Have you had it? What did you think?) Mani/pedi with girlfriends. Lounge time outside at Southport Lanes with sweet tea vodka lemonades. A delicious dinner by the hubs.
He made chimichurri flank steak, fresh corn, homemade salsa and he even tried his hand at homemade grilled jalapeno poppers. They were fantastic! He stuffed each pepper with a filling made from reduced fat cream cheese, monterey jack cheese, cilantro and onion. Then he wrapped the entire pepper in bacon and grilled them up. Fantastic!
As he was preparing our meal and I was lounging on the deck with a book and some tunes, I thought, freedom is divine! Hope you all had a wonderful fourth of July. Back to the grind!

I haven't been to Great Lake, but like you, I've heard all about it! I definitely want to check it out this summer!
Hey, I thought you didn't like onions... ;)
No fireworks?
@Nic - I don't. He ground them so finely I didn't even know they were in there until he told me later. It's a texture thing.
Um, fireworks where? At Navy Pier? Not a chance in H-E-L-L would I EVER go downtown for fireworks. Particularly when my friends and I got a nice show from around the 'hood from my deck Sunday night. :)
Ok, for starters, can your husband come cook for me? That sounds DELICIOUS!! And I'm so with you...why is any time off work never enough?
Your mini-vacay sounds divine. What I wouldn't give for some outlet shopping and a mani/pedi right now.
Your hubs sounds like quite the chef!
I am making those poppers. Hot damn!
